    Heatwave

It was a remarkable 45 degrees at 5 a.m. this morning when I went out for my daily run (yes, I am still outside attempting to conquer my fear of running in the dark).  For mid-November in Wisconsin, you don’t see temps in the 40s at that time of day.  Now they say the snow is on the way so I may be forced back inside to the treadmill later this week.  We’ll see….

As for my run, there’s not much to say.  It was the sixth straight day of running for me (10 miles-10-8-5-10-10) which is normal for me.  I typically take Sunday off but since I had a race that day, I didn’t.  Tomorrow I will get a day off from running, but will do a 1-hour workout on my exercise bike as well as some weight training.

    Workout:

    • Type: Run
    • Date: 11/20/2007
    • Time: 05:00:00
    • Total Time: 1:27:20.00
    • Distance: 10 miles
    • Average Pace: 8:44.02/mile

That’s pretty good volume. Is it all part of a base in your training at this point? I love to read about how others prepare for their endurance events.

Yes, I am trying to build up my base to 60 miles per week before I start my 16-week training program in early January. I have now cut out all speed work and tempo runs and am taking all runs at a “leisurely” pace. Bear in mind that this is all pretty much an experiment (aren’t all training plans?), but so far it seems to be working! Thanks for asking!
