    About My Blog

My name is Chris Ponteri.  I live in Wind Lake, Wisconsin. I started running in 1990 and went right into training for the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon.  I then took 10 years off from competitive running, during which I got married and had a family. I got back into running in 2000 and proceeded to run four marathons over the next six years, culminating in a 3:19 race at the San Francisco Marathon, which qualified me for the the Boston Marathon.  I also do around 20 shorter races each year, including 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. I have completed several marathons, with a PR of 3:12 in Milwaukee in 2008.

I use this blog for three main purposes: 1) to keep track of my workouts, 2) to keep my family and friends updated on my running accomplishments, 3) to solicit advice and get support from other runners.   I welcome and encourage any comments.

    Chris,

Long time, no see. I got into a business social networking site called LinkedIn (great site) and I’ve been reconnecting with long lost business contacts. Tonight, on a whim, I figured I’d put in some names from my childhood to see if they’d pop up. Your name didn’t, but then I googled it to see if I was spelling it right and found your blog. Shoot me an email at my above address so we can reconnect.

Hope the Boston Marathon works out for you.

    Best,

Chris, I have not been to your site in a while. I pulled a Hamstring 3 weeks before my Chicago qualifying run. I all worked out - but I was shooting for 3:20 on a flat course. Be careful….you can always pour it on after the Newton Hills.

Thanks for checking in Tim. I will take your advice and just hang low until I get past the hills!! I have hardly been able to run for the past 5 weeks so it is going to be a challenging experience.

    Chris,
A 6:22 pace…that is great. I am jealous. Sorry I missed you at the reunion. Hopefully we can connect at an MU game.

I wanted to say hi. I also ran the winterfest 5K run. I hated the course. I came in first for women. I was not happy with my time. I am training for Boston for a 3:10. what is your next race?\

Hey Tammy. Next race is Wisconsin Marathon in Kenosha on May 2. I may try to pick up a few 5Ks or 10Ks before then, but not sure. How about you?

Hi there…stumbled upon your blog and was astounded by your accomplishments! I am a newbie to running–I will be running the Delafield 5K on June 20th–my first EVER 5K. I love reading about your runs and exercise. Thanks! Hey, I’m not far from you out in Wind Lake–I’m in Muskego! Hello neighbor!

    Hi Chris,
Came acrosss your site today. Rebecca says hello. Glad to see you are running well - I will be running a fall marathon - probably the Air Force Marathon in September.

Rebecca, I, and the kids were selected to be featured on Fox 6 TV Wakeup News over the next 6 months as part of their YMCA Family Health Challenge. Fox 6 has interviewed us on TV several times and we will appear monthly on the morning news and they will also have an in-depth series on each family. In addition, you will be able to follow the progress toward our goals at

Hope you are all well and keeping as busy as I am.
